I could have found this info online or at my doctors office what a pip off, this is taking advantage of sick people looking for help.

kinda vague

didn't get a lot of info from this

This book was informative for about the first half but got really technical at the end. Confusing terminology.I really didn't find what I was looking for

Great information for those wondering to do triple therapy or not and facts of true situations experienced by those on treatment. We call it fighting the dragon, for some it has minimal effects and for others many side effects, sometimes the dragon wins and we loose a fellow dragon slayer.Hope this book helps to create an awareness about Hep C and take away the shame and judgement due to ignorance of the illness. Commonly Hep C is thought, that people must be a drug addict, alcoholic or have illicit sex to get the disease and there is much concern on how to contract. It is blood to blood please read the book if you or your loved one has contracted Hep C.Many professionals who never did drugs, drink and have a monogamist relationship contract Hep C, for example Law Enforcement, Medical, Body Art and etc...

I find the book, "Curing hepatitis C," useful, informative, and of extreme value. It filled many gaps in my knowledge. Of particular importance for those considering delaying treatment, because of the promise/hope of future HCV treatments, are the sections on "The future of HCV treatment," and "Re-treatment after prior treatment with direct acting antivirals." While some of the materials on future paths are pure speculation, given that these "future" drugs are in trials, the information is nevertheless timely and important. Of great value was the discussion on the differences between alpha-interferons and lambda-interferons. The distinctions are subtle and not appreciated, I am sure, by most.In the "Acknowledgments" Dr. Everson explained that he included quotes and comments from patients so that the book was more than a series of "dry" facts. To be sure, this text is filled with facts. Important facts for those with HCV, and for their families. The comments and discussion lend a certain human element to the discussion. An important element, in my opinion, if for no other reason than to provide insight into the struggles of patients past, future, and present. The human element adds character to the book.It seems I have considered the end and then the beginning. That is so because of my intense study of the subject. I have in fact gleaned much of the information contained herein in my education on this disease. I have studied the viral kinetics models for genotypes 1a and 1b for the currently approved triple therapies [see Rong, et al., "Rapid emergence of protease inhibitor resistance in hepatitis C virus," Sci. Transl. Med. 2(30) (2010)]. For me the subject of hepatitis C is fascinating, especially because the viral kinetic mathematical models were developed by theoretical physicists. The heart of the book is absolutely consistent with the models, even if those that developed the models lack an appreciation of the dynamics of those that have the disease, the disease of our time, a disease whose moment has come. What I did not appreciate in my study of the mathematical models was the reason to stop treatment at the first appearance of a viral breakthrough, which means the virions have become resistant to the anti-viral drugs. Dr. Everson spelled that out. Essentially the argument is to stop treatment once the virus becomes resistant because it may lead to a particularly virulent strain that accelerates the kinetics, or progression of the disease. This was a "wow" moment.I cannot say this text is complete, but it is important for those who have loved ones with the disease, or are close to someone with the disease, or whom has the disease. But the point is, we all know someone with this disease, and that is what makes this book so important.I highly recommend this text.Zifr, Ph. D. Physicist

I had "cut my teeth" on Dr. Everson's earlier work ("Survivor's Guide for Hepatitis C"), and was thrilled that in this book, he addresses the "newer" treatment protocols as well as touching on research directions. For maximum benefit, readers need to purchase the "Survivor's Guide" for clarification of some of the technical jargon concerning lab tests. The personal "anecdotes" help readers see that there is (finally) hope for more than just surviving---now we can look for a cure! Thanks, Dr. Everson, for giving us a readable "tech support guide" as we battle this virus!

Another excellent tome by the good doctor Everson.I've owned three of the earlier editions of the"Survival Guide" and I recommend this book for those who want hope and not necessarily the ability to discern what the doctors are doing. This book provides and excellent overview of the current situation with treating this disease. It's a great book with which to begin the search for health, an excellent reminder that things are not as dark as once they were.
