This is a U.S. reprint of the uber-classic U.K. title "Drinks," differing only in that non-metric measurements are used in this edition. Yes, there are fantastic drinks that use cutting-edge scientific trickery, but most will appreciate the book for its thoughtful, tasteful, and utterly wonderful reinventions of the classics.
Fascinating and funky. It is a great read with excellent recipes and drink history. Clear and coherent without veering too far into the "look at me and my pretentious understandings of mixology" this is a fun book for even the casual drinker.

Bought as a gift, but once I received it I wanted to keep it for myself! Very fun and cool and informative. it made a great gift for my mixology-loving friend!
interesting book on the chemistry and theory of cocktails. Although the information on preparation is provided and clear, some equipment is not going to be readily available to the American (Thermomix and micropipettors). Still, a thoughtful and creative book that could provide inspiration for experimentation.

Just got my copy and have only had the time to crack it open take a peak at the photos. Even with that limited exposure the sensibility of the author is evident. This is an exquisite book! I imagine my own sensibility will evolve once I start reading. This is a much much more than a recipe book.
Despite the title which promises some insight into cocktail mixing and how the flavors blend this is really just a list of drinks and ingredients - a cookbook for cocktails. That is okay if that is what your think you are buying, although there are plenty of other cocktails guides that do even that far better.
